Demographic Transition Model
Mali is considered to be in stage two of the demographic transition model. The birth rate is very high and the death rate is declining, resulting in a rapid natural increase. The high infant mortality rate and the percent of the population that is undernourished illuminates the low level of development inside the country. The education statistics which show the low number of children enrolled, also cause Mali to be at a low stage of development.
